HUE School of Medicine was founded in Handan Health School in 1951. It has undergone six merger formations and reorganizations successively, and merged with Hebei University of Architecture and Technology in 2003 to form Hebei Engineering University. In April 2006, it was renamed School of Medicine at Hebei University of Engineering.

School of Medicine currently offers five undergraduate majors, including clinical medicine, nursing, medical laboratory technology, rehabilitation therapy and medical imaging technology, with 2465 full-time undergraduate students, 37 master students and 96 foreign students.There are 2125 faculty members, including 285 full-time teachers, 99 senior titles, 203 deputy senior titles, 71 doctoral degrees and 386 master's degrees.The Medical School has one affiliated hospital and four non-affiliated hospitals, all of which are Grade-A comprehensive hospitals. Affiliated Hospital was founded in 1990, with three hospital districts, four inpatient departments, is a set of medical, teaching, scientific research, rehabilitation, prevention, first aid as one of the general hospital. Affiliated hospitals play an important role in the training of medical students as authorized units of clinical medicine master's degree in School of Medicine at Hebei University of Engineering, training bases of master's degree students in Chengde Medical School and clinical teaching bases of undergraduate students.

School of Medicine is developing rapidly in the new era, with teaching orientation of "based on southern Hebei, facing Hebei, radiating the whole country, serving the local areas and industries, establishing an applied medical personnel training base with important influence in southern Hebei and its surrounding areas" and itstalenttraining Goal of “taking undergraduate education as the main body, actively developing postgraduate education and foreign student education, giving prominence to training applied talents”. In the process of building an outstanding medical school, School of Medicine at Hebei University of Engineering, with a more solid and powerful pace,will attain its final goal: institute and offer first-class medical education with all its heart and all its might .
